Little bit of Love!

2 Things: 1- A new look will be rolling out soon for VHP!  and 2 - I love Pinterest. lolI suppose its thanks to Pinterest that people are constantly "overthinking" photo shoots, and doing up styles and themes! I still often and mostly shoot the standard, but once in a while a client... usually a friend - will join with me in making sure we have lots of good, or a few of the perfect, props and setting pieces and we create something spectacular! Over the last couple of weeks I've had 2 shoots like this that just turned out so beautifully with just a few accents!

A&Z K Family

Maybe its the whole blanket theme that makes it work? I don't know.. its just perfect! - I will say these are probably two of my favorite shoots ever! And they just fell into place perfectly!

Back in action!

Wow, I haven't officially been working my photography business for almost a year - but as I'm compiling some photos to show you what I've been up to in the mean time, I realized I certainly stayed busy enough for being "out."  I seemed to take shoots on ANYWAY - despite not promoting at all. I kiiinda have a little problem with saying no ;) Life is going going going as always! We've moved (yes again, this time locally), we're expecting baby number 2 in June! And we've both been working full time! I recently went back down to working only 3 days a week at my "real job"  - to save on daycare and gas costs! And am now I'm using that time to take care of our home and coming back to my business!

Being in this profession can be rough in a small town, There are a lot of photographers out there... But! It'll be just fine :) I take pride in doing my best to create something with an extra "umph" and a bit of "something different." And those looking for what I offer, will be happy with that!

I believe it was last summer that I posted any full preview sets... (A couple weddings, and some senior portraits) So the photos to follow are a bit of everything since that time.

Don't forget to check out what I offer and what to expect for investment in the "Prices" tab. And enjoy staying up to date with me on by liking Valisa Henderson Photography on Facebook!

Some Garnicks... {Maternity and Child Photography}

Garnicks!... well some of them at least...I stayed with them while i was there for this AZ trip!! :) Another birth I was bummed to miss out on though! *sigh* I've been shooting these guys since Natalie's newborn shoot! (I think we did newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year... and something else in between?)  So needless to say-  I was sad to miss the birth of Nicholas! Just by a couple of weeks. However, I was glad to be able to get a few pictures of Katie and that belly! I think Nicholas must have been laying straight out - head towards her back - and feet out towards the belly button! :) I think a few of us wondered if maybe... just maybe... a twin would arrive and surprise everyone :) ha! But no no.. Nicholas was just stretchin out in there I think! Natalie tried really hard to not smile at me throughout this little shoot... It didn't exactly work :) Enjoy!

Mr. Crosley! {Phoenix Child Photographer}

The much anticipated Crosley! Tarah worked with my husband, and introduced us to the apartments we lived in our second year in Phoenix (Utilities included is the way to go in Phoenix let me tell you! AC on ALL the time!...)  so we lived in the same building for a while! I was bummed to find out that Tarah and Jared were expecting their first little one so close to us moving away!! But timing has lined up okay :) My first or second visit back to Phoenix after the move when she was pregnant was just in time for their gender reveal photos... :) We got a little time in for some pictures of him while I was there :) Its too bad that I dont know Crosley a little better... He was a fun little guy to spend a time with!! Miss you guys!Such a cutie :) Enjoy the few previews!

Tasha and Ben {Mommy and Me Portraits}

I met Tasha when she was around 12 I think? :) I was just 17 or 18 myself... helping out with the Jr. High Youth at the church we went to :)Now she has little Ben! <3 Time flies!! He was so cute! A quick busy little guy - but so cute!! Its probably a good thing we just did a mini shoot ;) His still-ness didn't seem to last long! Granted I think it was 105 outside :) As I remind all clients: Please remember, you will receive a disc of your photos with no logo on them. McKenna {Portraits}

McKenna! Oh McKenna! My "meant to be" meetup has blossomed into such a sweet friendship!McKenna was with her friends at Scottsdale Civic Center a year and a half ago now? They were taking pictures of each other... and I was sitting there waiting for a client, just people watching and waiting..... I spotted the 3 of them trying to get pictures not often getting one with all 3 in the picture, mostly taking pictures of each other... So after waiting 20 min for my client, and not hearing from her... I approached McKenna, Lilly and Sami, and offered to take some pictures of them - I did it with my camera, I told them I was expecting to do a shoot anyway so I might as well do it of them! :) I used my camera - but let them know I'd treat it like a regular mini shoot and edit them before I gave them the pictures - and then had a bit of fun w/ the three of them :) They all became my friends on FB and liked my photography page so they could see the pictures when I posted previews... and then - I stayed in touch with McKenna mostly - she seemed to be the one interested in the photography - she was the one with the camera, AND it turned out she lived less than 2 min from our apartments.  So it was easy to get her the disc...  she asked questions about photography - loved my help with her pictures for school.... eventually she began babysitting for us... :) She fit right in to our family!! <3 If you're a client - you probably recognize McKenna :) She comes with me on a lot of shoots to practice... her passion for life, happy fun loving attitude, and joy when taking pictures and "getting it right" is so sweet and contagious! I love having her around!! Today is her birthday (her "Sweet 16" I might add!)  so I thought I'd make sure to get her previews up from her shoot when I was back visiting in Phoenix  :) Happy Birthday McKenna!

Will!

I missed out on Will as a newborn because he was born after we moved away :( BUT I had the honor of shooting this bright eyed boy at 6 months old! He is so cute!!I will say - he wasn't too sure about sitting in the grass too much! So we got some fun stuff right in the beginning :) But it wasn't a problem!! He was so easy to photograph that we got our mandatory shots in right away! Didn't take long at all!! :) I met Merissa (Will's mamma) a couple of years ago through my hubby's best friend :) Glad we connected! Will was a joy to be around! Even if it was just for a short time! :) Can't wait for the next visit! :) Thanks Merissa and Wilson for allowing me to capture you two with your little man at this fun memorable age!! <3

Close Connections

I just LOVE seeing unbreakable bonds and this family has just that :) A few family portraits and then a full shoot of Breezi - the recently graduated sister :) I had a great time with them... They even tried to give me the most adorable puppy ever. Which I turned down, but Stormi had fallen in love already - so SHE kept her... :) I thinks she's grateful :) anyway - I digress. I had a great time during this shoot!! Breezi was excited about getting her senior pictures done, which makes it even more fun... I could have kept shooting all day!

Underwater Maternity Portraiture DEBUT!

So excited to finally be sharing these!!Oh. My. Word. Most experimental photography I've ever ventured into for sure. My dear friend Carrie... was certain she wanted to try something like this.... So we did! It was a LOT of work on both of our parts... shooting underwater, modeling underwater. Hard work I tell ya! This work in no way resembles my typical editing style or even composition really. With this experiemental session - It was pretty much - get what we can get! I'm pretty happy with the results and have SO many more ideas and lessons I took away from this shoot. Cant wait to try again! Anyone else for some experimentation! I know it'll just keep getting better and better!  Have a look! Unlike any other shoot - I'm actually posting the good and the bad... for the most part. Everything that was worth using is here.. Because it was an experiment - I dont mind letting you all see the out of focus... and odd compositions - Like I said -I'll take what I can get because it was SO SO Awesome  and Makes me want to try again even more! :)

Kameron...

My dear friend Kambra, lost her nephew, Kameron,  a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately when I was here visiting in July, Kameron was also visiting... And Kambra had the wonderful idea to have a secret photo shoot done of Kameron with me to use as surprise Christmas presents for his family. Due to his passing they're no longer a surprise Christmas present... just cherished photos of the precious life lost.These will fall into the category of "Most Special Photos Ever" for sure.

RIP Kameron... May all those who miss you find some joy in the captures of your smile! For some reason the video embedding isn't working... http://www.facebook.com/v/537560983091

Pretty in Pink! Precious in Purple!

Oh. My. Word.My latest photo subject: Mia {9MonthsYoung} Level of adorableness: Off the charts... I haven't blogged in FOREVER... And my latest client doesn't have a facebook (which is where most of my clients get their first peak at their portraits...)- SO I figured her shoot was the perfect one to jump back into blogging... Or {try} to. For the first time, I had a client come to MY house... Oh how I wish I had a studio for baby shoots! [The pull back shot of Keri*Meyers's studio makes me drool... I prefer outdoor stuff once little ones are walking... but pre-walking. ~Newborns especially of course~ .. inside in a studio works so so well! And is SO SO fun! I wish I had the prop collection, the natural light... the dedicated space... oi! Someday! :).. ok ... anyway... back on track....]

Though - Our house is in disarray due to the beginnings of unorganized house turning in to an {attempted} organized packed-up house, for  {hopefully} an organized move... Our patio with my backdrop stuff all set up turned out to be the PERFECT venue for my shoot with Miss Mia!

I've done shoots with Brooke out there before, and my little buddy Natalie :) And the lighting is always amazing! We have no direct sun... but the building is white and light blue... and we're on the 4th floor with no real shadowy obstructions.. :)

PLUS Just barely Pre-Crawling is awesome too because they're immobilized pretty much! But happy enough sitting and staring at you! This girl has to-die for big brown glassy eyes and with the awesome light outside... they were glistening!! :) You'll see what I mean...!

Without Further ado.... Here is the sneak peak!

Now there you have it!! A "handful" of previews... that I generally promise.. turned into a lot more!  But it really is just a small percentage of all the awesome shots she allowed me to take! :D I must give a shout out to my dear Kenna! McKenna loves photography, has a brand new Canon in her hands, and loves coming to shoots with me! SO I have to brag on her a bit and showcase a few of her super cute captures!!

*Her Photos | My Edits*

*Special Thanks to LoveBbyCarrie for the super cute purple and white boutique bow :) {which I WILL be brining you $ for next time I see you btw!} And to McKenna of course for second shooting! You're a rising star my love!

Blog Abandonment!

It is SO easy to forget to blog! Oh my goodness. I'm great about keeping up with previews on Facebook, which is great for clients. But what about those of you who just stop by to see my site? Well, at least my portfolio LINK'S to my Facebook albums :)I've been so busy lately! Thats a great thing though... I know! Its just hard for me to stay on top of stuff sometimes. I'm juggling school work. Have a lot to get done by the end of this month... Plus trying to get (and keep) the house clean? phew. I dont know how some people do it all SO well! I'm trying! We've also had visitors and lots of fun, lots of crazyness going on! :) I haven't had time to be doing photography for my own personal life lately - but I have had business for sure! I'm working on catching up on 4 sessions. Hoping to spend the majority of today getting caught up... or close to it! So no photos to share today. Just wanted to make a connection with my blog so you visitors know I'm around! Also - Stop by my Facebook, and like it if you haven't already. Refer your friends as well. New Set up!

So I've had my backdrop stand for a while... and have been dying to get some flooring for a very specific look I'm COPYING from my friend Rose :) She does little shoots like this - mostly of her precious daughter Jayley :) That I see and just LOVE all the time...Finally got my flooring and then our porch, which is the best place size and lighting wise to set it up on was wet from rain..... and we're on the fourth floor and anything we sluff off goes right into 3 other porches so i try not to do that. :) Today there was only a little bit of wetness left so i dried it all up - cleaned the space and set up! Brooke was willing to model because I told her i'd give her Heart sprinkles, a vitamin.. and/or raisins. She opted for the vitamin and heart sprinkles then when i was done with the shoot - she said that we weren't done because she was ready for raisins! lol. usually I don't give into such cute manipulation BUT she was willing to play and model for me a little more :) SO I went for it! I'm so excited to share what came out of it! Can't wait to use this on some babies!! :D Enjoy!

Sh.. Sh... SHARLA!

A friendship is only as strong as what breaks it...Sharla isn't my oldest friend, but we've been friends for a while now and have stood through some... well... rough times together... But by golly we're still kickin :) Sharla has always been a fan of my photography... even before I considered it worthy of having fans.. haha. When I were in Florida, I did we little mini-shoot :) Here she is with her 2 munchkins!

Austin...

And Arianna

Cutie patooters!!

This made me laugh... This is how they responded to "serious faces"

She's always been fun to do photos with :)

My favorite part: I told Sharla to laugh for me... She just busted out a gut laugh on command... :) She was quite right when she said "I bet you can't get many clients to do that for ya huh?" Hahaha! So true...

"Nice to meet you, will you please laugh really hard for me right... NOW."

Love you Sharla!

Tabi and Mike.. I know you're waiting anxiously!! You're next!
