mom

This morning I woke up and reached for my phone. Why is it SO instinctual to just grab it? I began cruising the details and reviews of a marketing set I want to purchase. WORK! It is hard to remember that all that research and study time is work... and I just need to chill! It was 4:45 in the morning!! Relax!! Think! Wakeup! Eesh!!!! I find that it is that way when going to bed before going sleep too... Or When I'm standing in the kitchen trying to do dishes but get distracted by an idea, or remember something I wanted to look for.... Or notice a corner of the dining room that could be a nice little office space... and start looking at Pinterest! Ha!! Tell me I'm not the only one! Now that I'm back to full time photography, I've found that is very difficult to leave work at work... because its right there. All. The. Time. I've been working hard at developing the behind the scenes, restructuring, researching, fine tuning, tweaking, creating spreadsheets, studying, researching, tweaking some more. I read the other day a statement along the lines of, Creative Entrepreneurs: The only people willing to work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40. lol! Isn't that the truth!

When I had that "It's 4:45 in the morning! Relax, Think, Take time to wake up" moment this morning... I decided today would be different. Its a good day to make it different, kids are home, house needs tending to, and I've forsaken my beloved outlet of Bible Journaling Lately... So after putting my phone down... letting myself enjoy the peace while the kids were still sleeping, I had some prayer time, dozed in and out... and when the kids got up... grabbed my coffee, the kiddos got books, and I left my phone in my room, and came to my cozy window chair, with a blanket, no technology, and dove in for a little bit to start my day off right! I need to go back here more often. Its a safe place, a happy place... a place to recharge.

Ooooh my last FL shoot! A few previews for them! Isabella - Ooooh Isabella!! She is SUCH a little ham! I was wondering if she was going to cooperate well because that girl! haha She thinks its funny to ignore some people on purpose... luckily she thought I was pretty fun popping out from behind my camera so she did great! Natasha and Miguel are old friends and I LOVED capturing them yet again! <3 Miss these dear friends already! Image

{N Family} Phoenix Family and Child Photograhy

Little miss Lillian... So serious! In front of the camera at least! :) I had this adorable face featured before... also mostly serious though! Silly girl! She has such gorgeous eyes and lips though - the serious look works for her!It was great exploring Heritage Square with these three! Per Lillian - we pretty much followed the cats around the whole time :) Oooh! A hint of a smile! As I remind all clients: Please remember, you will receive a disc of your photos with no logo on them. Thursday Threads

My first post of Thursday Threads!! <3  So many people feel lost at what to wear for a photo shoot! This first Thursday Threads suggestion is geared toward a family shoot :) But can really be applied to other things as well I'm sure! Just trying to build a good base of suggestions for you to come to when you need inspiration when planning for your shoot :) One pointer many photographers will give you is this:  Not so Matchy Matchy! Coordinate! See what I mean? :)

Katie and Macey {Maternity and Child Photography}

Its about time I get a blog up on Katie and Macey! It took long enough to get a photo shoot in with these two! Last July - before we moved back here, I had come for a visit and done a shoot with Macey's little friend Emma... The shoot was planned to be of Macey and Emma, but Macey had a bad reaction to a mosquito bite and the poor girl had a big swollen puffy eye... so naturally mom decided to pass on a shoot at that time! When we moved back I know we had mentioned getting a shoot planned at some point.. and then finally - with only a few weeks to go before her 2nd baby's birth - we planned a maternity and family shoot... we changed dates a couple of times due to the weather, Then Katie got in a wreck and had a rash all over her face for a while... we played it by ear with weather again after that... and then SUDDENLY one day - the weather was clear and all was well.. Katie's husband was working but she opted to have just a maternity shoot and 3 year old birthday photos done of Macey ;) SO glad we fit it in!

She had her baby (a few days LATE) the next day!! Can you believe it!? Newborn shoot coming soon! :) Can't wait to meet Mr. Trenton!

Katie! you guys make perfect clients! The bond between you and Macey, plus Your beautiful pregnant belly and Macey with the patience of someone 10 times her age plus her ability to laugh hysterically on cue made for some of the most adorable pictures!

Here are some of my favorites! Can't wait to finish up this shoot and get them to you!! Most people dont get this many previews... JUST sayin!

My editing style is taking on a new process and I'm LOVING the results... So I have to share these!!

Enjoy!

3 Year old + Photoshoot....

= Ups and downs and everything in between :)I met Stacy (Mom) at the Hissyfits Hullabaloo craft fair in November... She seemed to be mostly attracted to the idea that I give copyright and a disc of all your images instead of leaving it up to the client to buy my photos :) One thing I stand quite proudly on with my business.  After a few reschedulings... Sicknesses and such between us... We finally got to meet up for a shoot! Little Miss Delaney was the star of the show here.... And I was excited to see how happy and peppy she was coming off the playground when I arrived. But when I got the camera in her face... um.. She changed her mind... which you'll notice.. and I learned... she does a lot. At least this day! We started with some whole family pictures... Grandma, Uncle Jason, Mommy - and Delaney... She wasn't so excited.

She needed some talking and joking.... She certainly didn't the idea of my crab (Preston, my lens buddy), camera  and I coming closer... But we started seeing if she thought Crab's said... Meow.. or Woof Woof... Or Moo.... She thought we were silly :) A little cuddle and play with mom seemed like it might work to really brighten her up again... But not for long... even with an attempt at swinging! Time to eat! That should help.... I let them do their thing and I snuck around a little... Look what a little food did! haha... I love her look in this photo... Shes not so sure why Grandma is in the waggon :)

Havin a good 'ole time! This is the smile I KNEW was in there! Peek-a-boo!She decided at one point in there that she was ready to go home... We headed over to see the train... She so wanted to ride! (That's a silly band in her hand... I was so afraid it was going to snap! AH!) Playin on the tracks... We're going to ride it!!! So. So. Excited. No more please... Let's go! Such JOY!

We're on the TRAIN!This photo makes me squeal inside a little... :DWe got off... She was done. Spent. Time to go home!

Hope you all enjoyed! With the down moments, to be honest.. I was a little concerned that I might not have as many good photos as I like to have. But I was so pleasantly surprised! She is so photogenic and certainly agrees with the camera... even if she didn't want to. I had a REALLY hard time choosing photos for the preveiws... because initially when I picked the ones I wanted to use.. I had close to 50! So I had to really cut it down. I just love the story they tell!!

:)

Braddocks Take 2!

Mike and Tabi... Tabi and Mike...  They help our world go round :)Dear friends we RARELY get to see anymore because WE moved... and they haven't followed us... yet? yet.

Oi. The first shoot I did with them over a year ago... They loved.. and I did at the time.. but my work has improved so much! I don't mean to gloat.. but I am SO much happier with the images from this shoot!! So I call this... Take 2 :)

I'm not quite done yet - but I wanted to get a sneak peak up for them of my favorites :D :D PS.. a fair warning, the little ones stole the show :)

I am certain you'll get a good glimpse of who they are thru these photos :) Meet (From Left to Right) Micha, Shai, Tabi and Mike :) AKA: The Braddocks

So thats that! Looking forward to Take 3 next year :) Or next visit... which ever happens first! LOVE YOU GUYS!
